The U.S. home video market was not so badly hit by the threatened economic recession in the first six months of the year, with retail sales flat (ending a three-year decline) and rental slightly increasing. With a stronger second-half movie release slate in prospect, we think 2008 will see a slight growth in retail consumer spending to $16bn, with Blu-ray increasing its share to 6%.
