This Christmas season dozens of game publishers, who had previously underestimated the popularity of the Wii, packed the quarter with more releases for Wii than for PS3 and Xbox combined. But making Wii games is no guarantee of success for third party publishers as Wii games are heavily slanted toward Nintendo's own published games and publisher's long term commitment to the platform is uncertain. GMI believes that an aggressive approach to multi-platform publishing, developing games based on proven games franchises and licensing previously popularized content are better indicators of publisher strength. GMI believes, EA, Activision and THQ are the publishers to watch this season.
