The French government plans to end advertising on public service TV after 8pm from January 2009, and will introduce more flexible advertising rules for commercial channels. As a result of the changes - expected to be confirmed later this month - GMI forecasts TF1 channel ad revenue will increase 7.3% while M6 will see a 10% gain. Canal Plus and digital channels will also benefit, good news after a terrible 2008 and a forecast slump of 1% in the overall ad market in 2009.
